Hey, I'm
TAYLOR CAREY.
- Here's what I've done so far. -
Raleigh, NC & Research Triangle Park
Mechanical Engineer, since May 2016

Harris Nuclear Power Plant - New Hill, NC
Mechanical Engineering Design Intern, Summer 2015
At the Sharon Harris Nuclear Power plant I was with the Mechanical & Civil Design Department. My large project at Duke this summer was performing extraction steam calculations for the low pressure and high-pressure turbines, and update steam calculations to current plant heat balance model. I was also pulled into Rapid Response Engineering to work on a steam leak project, where engineering mentor Dmitri Moundous and I determined the valve opening percentages to maintain positive pressure during online steam leak resin repair in the primary steam tunnel. My last large project was updating the Reactor Vessel Summary Stress Report regarding control drive rod mechanism for the upcoming plant outage. I really enjoyed my time at the Harris plant, and appreciate Duke's collaborative engineering environment, opportunities for field walkdowns, and safety culture.Research Triangle Park, NC
Project Management Intern, Summer 2014
Having seen the mechanical design side of engineering, EDi encouraged me to see the construction side of engineering to help fully understand the whole picture. The following summer I worked with Turner Construction Company in RTP renovating Fidelity Investment's RTP campus. At Turner, I worked with senior project manager Drew Langsam & Danielle Crane as a project manager intern. I helped facilitate coordination between subcontractors, architects, and Fidelity with RFI & submittals. I also designed and implemented the work site flow & logistics plan, and performed cost analysis on the use of field tablets with blueprint software for construction project management.
Cary, North Carolina
HVAC Intern, Summer 2013
I was fortunate enough to work with and learn from Ginger Scoggins, ASHRAE Region IV Director, and Tom Velez at EDi. During this summer, I was also able to sit in on client meetings and learn how the engineering consulting industry works. I also performed field walkdowns for job sites in Greenville, NC and Durham, NC with the Engineering Project Manager. Finally, I able to shadow lead mechanical engineers for various project in various phases of design. This awesome summer with the great engineers at EDi helped guide me down my path as a Mechanical Engineer and help connect me with my first full-time opportunity after graduation at CRB Consulting Engineers.

Career Fair Blueprint
Keynote Presentation
My presentation covers the various critical aspects of "How to get an Internship/Full Time Opportunity" through a career fair. Within the presentation, I have created a system to maximize time management, efficiency and impact while at career fairs, as well as a “follow-up and relationships based process" to help students make connections and land amazing opportunities.
Presentation for organizations including, NCSU Career Development Center, AIChE, Textile Engineering Society, and ASHRAE student chapter.
"How to Pass the FE Exam Before Graduation"
"How to Pass the FE Exam Before Graduation" is an article I wrote regarding my strategies for students passing the FE Exam before graduation in order to help increase their employment opportunities.
Lets get in touch.
